Biden Signs Executive Order for Semiconductor Supply Chain Review
Semiconductor chip production has hit a snag in the last year, causing a major shortage globally, especially within the United States. Today, President Joe Biden signed an executive order that will review the semiconductor supply chain within the US, to identify the challenges the country may face in the near future.
Automobile, computer and other applications have seen a downturn in production due to multiple factors, and the US is looking to improve production in 2021 and beyond.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for home offices, electric vehicles and many other factors have caused a disruption in the semiconductor supply chain, with demand greatly exceeding production capacity.
In addition to this executive order, the US Senate is eying a bill that could also boost microchip production domestically, as well as create long term job growth within the industry.
